Parents and child care centres welcome full-day kindergarten

Full-day kindergarten about education

Annie Kidder, executive director of the group People for Education said that the new full-day learning program is based on current brain research and combines “everything we know about early childhood education and childcare.”  Kidder also said that the program will help children develop self regulation which will help them in school in later years. (video 3:42)

Province-wide coverage on early learning announcement

 The Globe and Mail: Ontario to offer full-day kindergarten in 600 schools. 

“About 18,000 of the more than 240,000 junior and senior kindergarten students in Ontario are already enrolled in full-day learning at a handful of francophone and Catholic schools, which fund the programs by diverting money from other sources.”
“Teachers will take the lead in full-day kindergarten, but will also work with early educators in the classroom.”

Celebrating Child Care Worker & Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day!

The ninth annual Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day is being celebrated on October 21, 2009.

This year for the second time an award to recognize the importance of child care advocacy work will be presented. Dr. Charles Pascal, who authored the report “With Our Best Future In Mind” will recieve the “Excellence in Advocacy” award for new early learning and care vision at Toronto City Hall Members Lounge.
