Durham: Petition to Municipal Centres to Extend Hours of Child Care

Durham Region Children Services

CAW Child Care Services, which closed this summer, offered extended hours to meet the needs of parents who work non-standard hours.

The loss of this high-quality program is a significant one, in part because there are now no viable options for extended-hour child care in the region.

The CAW argues that:

"All Canadians deserve access to quality child care. Just as we enjoy the benefits of universal health care, child care should be a right, not a privilege. Child care servicesshould also meet the needs of working people and account for the changing realities of work."

They are asking residents to send letters and signed petitions  to Durham Region Children Services Division, demanding action on extended hour care.
