The Sault Star
Shawna Weston wants to make sure she knows who will stand up for the city's youngest during the next term of council.
Throughout the election campaign, she's enlisted the help of some of her friends and together, they have contacted candidates running for seats on council, asking them to pledge their support for all daycare.
The campaign, called I Depend on Child Care, Can We Depend on You – Because Sault Ste. Marie Just Can't Work Without It has been taking root throughout the election campaign.
Armed with pledge cards, Weston has taken to the street to educate candidates about the importance of licensed daycare to both the city's youngest and to parents, who need to know their loved ones are in a safe and healthy environment.
The group is piggy-backing off a provincial campaign by the Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care, designed to protect and enhance daycare across the province.
