Childcare programs in Grey County are facing $1 million provincial funding cut. Although the province has provided the county with $2 million in bridge funding to help deal with the change, it will not be enough to support all of the child care related programs such as child care subsidies for low income families. Since the county wants to continue to provide these services in 2014, the staff have been asked to develop a template on how to deal with these cuts. The staff should be focusing their attention on the children and ensuring they receive the best start to life, and not worrying about child care cuts.
