For OCBCC Members

The Ontario government must sign the extension agreement right away to secure the future of $10aDay child care.

On March 6th the federal government announced that Ontario had reached an agreement-in-principle for a 5-year funding extension to the $10aDay child care plan. That’s $16.7 Billion in child care funding! Families and child care advocates celebrated. But the Ford government still hasn’t finalized the agreement.

The Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) system has been a game changer for hundreds of thousands of families, who have seen their child care fees reduced - vital financial relief when they need it most. Canada is finally building a real, publicly funded child care system. And while we still have work to do to ensure quality care for every family and decent work for ECEs, now is the time to keep building our new system.

We are asking you to stand up with ECEs, child care workers, families and children by sending a message to your MP, MPP, Premier Doug Ford, and Ontario’s Minister of Education Paul Calandra.

We know that decent work and pay are essential for building a sustainable, quality child care system - and ECEs and child care workers deserve it. Eight provinces and territories have created provincial wage grids, but not Ontario. Join us Wednesday, June 18th at noon for an interactive session with the OCBCC and AECEO teams to learn about what's next in our joint campaign for a provincial wage grid, benefits and pensions for early learning and child care in Ontario.
