Full-day kindergarten better prepares kids for Grade 1, Ontario study shows

A study focusing on the benefits of full day kindergarten was conducted by researchers at Queen’s University and McMaster University from 2010 to 2012.

The study released today found that children enrolled in the first two years of the province’s full-day learning program were better prepared for Grade 1 compared to those children who have completed one year in the program.

Dr. Charles Pascal stated that “the program even in its early years of early childhood development is showing that kids’ lives are being shaped, and in many cases, saved.”
