Full-day kindergarten great, but there are growing pains, report finds

With the fourth year of full-day kindergarten implementation well underway, a report by researchers at Queen's and McMaster Universities shows there are still areas of concern, including teacher-early childhood educator working relationships.

Zeenat Janmohamed, an early childhood researcher at the Atkinson Centre at the University of Toronto, said there are, “positive and some challenging relationships” as some ECE’s are treated as the teacher helper. She said principals play a key role in setting the foundation for teacher-ECE collaboration.
