The Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care joined with many other child care advocates, early childhood educators, families and supporters, in the International Women’s Day march in Toronto on Saturday March 8th 2014. This year’s theme was on “Women Taking Power” and women and men across the city came together in solidarity.
There was lots of support for child care and every speaker at the rally expressed the need for accessible, affordable, quality child care. Child care should not pose as a barrier for women to enter the labour market. Women deserve equality and the right to work, and in order for women to have full access to employment, it starts with the availability of licensed, quality child care.
Thank you to everyone who walked in the march with the child care supporters! Together, we collectively expressed our voice for the importance of quality child care. See below for pictures, media and press releases from IWD 2014.
