Low-Income Families Put On A Waiting List for Subsidized Day Care

For families whose net income is below $20,000 per year, the the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville usually covers 100%  of child care costs, while for those with slightly higher incomes only a portion of the costs is covered. For the first time since 2004, the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville has run out of funding to subsidize child care for the poorest families in the region, and a waiting list has been created.

This reflects the chronic underfunding of child care as well as the lack of affordable, quality care.
