NDP slows child-care funding increases

Manitoba's child care funding will be increased at a slower rate and parents will be asked to pay $1 more per day. The provinces child care fees have not had a significant increase since 2001. Manitoba's child care fees and system of funding are ahead of most provinces in Canada. "The province will also spend about $9 million during the next year to add 900 more child-care spaces to the system" according to the article in The Manitoba Free Press.  The Province is adding more quality licensed spaces, and a modest wage increase to help keep ECE's in the field of child care.
