March 1 Townhall meeting in Peel

On Thursday March 1st, MPP Jagmeet Singh hosted a town hall in his riding of

Bramalea-Gore-Malton along with leader of Ontario's NDP Andrea Horwath and representatives of the Coalition. Members of the community discussed the state of child care in the region and ways the community can come together to advocate for better services for their children and families.

MPP Singh was present at the regional council meeting when the proposal to close all 12 municipal centres - after immense pressure from the community - was defeated.

At the meeting, parents talked about the integral role of child care in their lives, the importance of quality, and the lack of availability of infant care, among other issues.

Andrea Horwath reaffirmed the NDP's committment to high quality, affordable early childhood education and to stabilizing the sector in these difficult times. She also stood strong on the importance of stopping the expansion of for-profit child care in Ontario.
