More than 150 Torontonians signed up to speak at the city hall budget meeting last week, many which spoke about the issue of child care, rightfully so. Child care cost continues to sky rocket, as many families are paying the equivalent of taking out another mortgage to put their child in care.
City offers child care subsidies for low-income families, however the current wait list for a subsidy is 19,790; a 34% increase from 2009.
