This article discusses the challenges facing parents when searching for quality child care. The wait list for licensed child care forces parents into unlicensed care, where there are no regulations of quality. There needs to be accepted standards and information on what quality is, made available to families looking into unlicensed care.
While families can contact the regional offices of the Ministry of Education to inquire about corrective action again an unlicensed day care, there are no records held there from other agencies, such as Public Health, Children's Aid, or animal control.
