18 communities across the province face cuts to child care in 2016. If you are in one of those communities, you need to get organized and speak out! The provincial election is an important opportunity to pressure our candidates to stand up for our communities.

Over the past several years, 6 children have died in unlicensed child care in Ontario:

- July 2010, 2 year old Jérémie Audette

- January 2011, 14 month old Duy-An Nguyen

- July 2013, 2 year old Allison Tucker and 2 year old Eva Ravikovich

- November 2013, 9 month old Aspen Juliet Moore

- February 2014, 4 month old baby, unidentified

Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Appreciation Day was celebrated on Wednesday October 30^th, 2013. This was a day to recognize the dedication and hard work of these professionals. Thank you to all child care workers and early childhood educators , you truly are amazing!

On October 10th 2013, the Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care partnered with student unions from Ryerson University, George Brown College and the University of Toronto to present an awareness event on Why Access to Affordable Childcare Is a Student Issue!
