Appreciation night comes as many child care programs reach gold level standing in local child care initiative

When it comes to providing childcare, Peterborough sets the bar high.

With a large portion of child care operators in the city and county achieving top community standards though a local child care initiative this year, an appreciation night is hoped to recognize and honour those who strive to provide the best care possible.

The Raising the Bar on Quality Child Care Project, which helps child care centres and workers maintain community standards beyond provincial requirements, is celebrating a milestone this year, as most of the participating child care centres reached a gold-level standing.

The standings, which have increased quality guidelines as centres move up through the bronze, silver and gold standings, are determined based on a peer review.
