St. Clair College closed a satellite child care centre last year. In addition, the child care centres at Canadore College and St. Lawrence College closed. The child care centres provide child care for students, staff and faculty as well as training for Early Childhood Education students. Like other colleges, St. Clair's actions are shortsighted. But, if child care were properly funded, then these centres would stay open.

St. Clair College will be closing its in-house daycare centre at the end of March to cut costs.

"A lot of the colleges across Ontario have gotten out of the daycare business," said college president John Strasser.
