Striking YMCA-YWCA childcare workers reach tentative deal

Ottawa Citizen

YMCA-YWCA childcare workers have reached a tentative deal after a one-day strike, said the union late Tuesday night.

Local 2204 of CUPE said in a tweet that a ratification vote is set for Wednesday after 40 striking childcare workers at three YMCA-YWCA daycare centres closed down operations for one day in a dispute over contract wages and pensions.

Rob Adams, associate vice president of child care, camping and youth engagement for the YMCA-YWCA for the National Capital Region said on Wednesday that a “fair” and “equitable” agreement had been reached.
