Vote Child Care Week of Action

The OCBCC and AECEO are joining forces next week for a Vote Child Care Week of Action, October 14-18, to raise the importance of child care in the federal election. We have a week of fun and easy activities planned that folks can do in communities and on social media.

Monday October 14

Kick off the week of action by adding our Vote Child Care profile frame to your Facebook profile. Check out our Facebook page on Monday to find the profile frame!

Tuesday October 15, 12:00pm(EST): Twitter Storm & Community Engagement Webinar

At noon on Tuesday, tweet your messages about the importance of child care! Use our Vote Child Care sign and the hashtags #VoteChildCare and #Elxn43.

At 6pm, the AECEO will be hosting a webinar on building skills for community engagement. Find out how to connect.

Wednesday October 16: Chalk It Up for Child Care

At your child care centre, in your neighbourhood, or at the local park – chalk the walk for child care. Take a photo of your chalk drawings and send them to us and post them on social media.

Thursday October 17: Put Decent Work in the Platform

The federal political parties need to understand that they can’t create child care spaces without supporting Decent Work for early childhood educators. Use our online tool to send the federal leaders a message that Canada needs a Workforce Strategy for Child Care.

Friday October 18: Friday Call Out for Child Care

Ask your local candidates what they are doing to support child care. At the door step, at local all-candidates meetings, over the phone, or in an email, ask your local candidates what they are doing to support child care.
