Q: 4. Do you have any further comments on any of the proposed regulation changes?

A: It is unfair for so many individuals to attend post-secondary education to work with children and use the title RECE, while so many others are allowed to participate in the same careers without any education or title. The pay is often the same, or very close for both parties, which is absolutely saddening. Those without their RECE should have to attend post-secondary education OR receive an equivalency from the College of ECE. There are a myriad of things RECEs learn during their post-secondary education that all individuals working with children, or at the very least, in child care centres (or likewise), should know in order to effectively support the child throughout the most critical period of their development.

Q: 4. Do you have any further comments on any of the proposed regulation changes?

A: Children’s safety and physical needs must be taken into account with the proposed changes. More R.E.C.E staff per child increases quality care allowing R.E.C.E’s to enjoy a learn through play curriculum

A: Equal pay for equal work
All staff that work with children need to be R.E.C.E staff.
There is not a huge difference in pay, why not??

A: I’ve just recently noted that Ontario already accommodates the highest child/staff ratio all across Canada (and US) who would see this as an improvement to “Quality Childcare?” This is NOT something I would support.

Q: 4. Do you have any further comments on any of the proposed regulation changes?

A: There is definite need to update and modernize these laws. However it makes absolutely NO SENSE to me WHY the ministry of education is regulating if I want to look after children from my own community in my home. I understand if I want to be under a licenced agency that I choose those rules. But don’t I live in a FREE country?
The CRIMINALS need to be punished for what they have done, but loving people that create a safe environment and sense of community (which is missing in a lot of cities) should not be further restricted!
Negligence of children, putting children in harms way, harming children……does this not all fall under criminal code? I have a friend with six children of their own….under these proposed changes for home daycare, because they are not my family and I have my own children, it would be illegal for me to look after them in my own home.
How is it legal for a 60yr old grandmother to be given as many grand kids at one time to care for but for someone who ha chosen this CAREER at home and it is their passion, would be limited to only five kids including their own.
But we want to give 15 little ones to only three adults? Chaos! Insanity! Unfair! Unjust! Ridiculous!
    I want my freedom back!
I want parents to be held accountable for where they leave their children!
I want people to stop being told by the media that if I DON’T NEED an agencies resources and choose not to work in a sterile facility environment, that I’m less of a provider! I put far more energy into my home care then when I worked at a centre. And I do my own research so that I am better informed instead of relying on someone else to do it for me.
And I work for LESS!!!! Because my heart is in it! So please don’t do this to MANY Ontario families. Don’t make the children suffer because a CRIMINAL hurt one child.
Stop being political and start being PRACTICAL!

A: Centre’s should be able to choose a model that works in their community. More funding should be available to support the staff with all these transitions. We are already losing a lot of great RECE to FDL.
This government talks about affordable quality. Quality can not happen if we do not have the financial support for our programs and staff.
