On July 8, 2013,Eva Ravikovich,a 2 year old toddler died at a Vaughan unlicensed home child care. When officials arrived, there were 27 children present. City buses were required to evacuate children from the home daycare. According to the York Region Public Health Services, health investigators identified seven health and safety infractions at the daycare, including failing to implement infection prevention, failing to provide a hand-wash basin and unsafe food conditions. Eva was declared dead at the scene. A cause of death has yet to be released. No arrests or charges have been made as of yet but the owners were ordered to close the daycare.
